M/E Engineering is interviewing for a Desktop Support Technician in our Rochester, NY office for our growing information technology team.  We are a full-service mechanical, electrical, and plumbing/fire protection engineering firm providing design and technology services to our clients. Essential Functions
  • Maintains desktops, printers, and mobile devices for engineers, administrative staff, and the leadership team.
  • Monitors basic network function and performance for the local LAN in the Rochester office.
  • Responds to the needs of various questions of network users concerning hardware, access to resources, and the operation of various software programs.
  • Establishes and maintains network users, user environment, directories, and security.
  • Manages operating systems and data backups for the local office.
  • Troubleshoots entry-level network problems, escalating to the Network Engineer and Network Manager as needed.
  • Maintains and operates office audio including visual equipment necessary to critical business communications.
  • Implements software and hardware upgrades under the direction of the Network Manager and Network Engineer.
  • Communicates with office partners to develop office technology needs to be escalated to the Network Manager and the Director of Information Technology.
  • Trains users on new and modified equipment.
  • Responds to occasional off-hours or weekend network emergencies.
  • Travels to other M/E Engineering offices to attend meetings and to cover time off for team members occasionally.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • Associate of applied science degree, management information systems, preferred.
  • Computer Information Technology entry level certification(s) such as CompTIA A+ or Network + preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to handle office materials, tools and controls, reach with hands and/or arms, push and pull objects, speak, and hear. Finger dexterity and field of vision is required.
  • The employee may be required to lift and/or move objects of up to 20 pounds. 
  • The noise level in the office is usually low to moderate.

Compensation
  • The compensation range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00 per hour.
